In the 20 years since "Luka" became a hit, Suzanne Vega has experienced a great deal of life's ups and downs. In the last decade, she was dropped from her record label, lost her manager, went through a divorce, and tragically, lost her brother to alcoholism. Not content to retire, Vega never stopped looking forward, pressing forward with her writing and recording while she raised her daughter Ruby. Now, six years since her last album, Vega returns with Beauty & Crime, a series of New York sketches that dazzle and shine while examining the city’s past and present. In this episode, Vega discusses her long road back, and performs new songs from Beauty & Crime, plus a special acoustic rendition of "Luka."
