Poet and playwright, Howard Altmann lives in New York City. His second book of poems, In This House, will be published by Turtle Point Press in spring of
2010. Recently, John Ashbery blurbed the collection with the following: "Howard
Altmann interrogates the sky, the light, the world, about their intentions. If he
seldom finds reassuring answers, he finds something better: 'When all that
consoled consoles no longer / loneliness finds a room inside the one it knows.'
These poems are as essential as a glass of water." Howard Altmann's first book of
poems, 'Who Collects the Days,' was published in 2005 (Mosaic Press). His work
has appeared or will appear in Poetry, Open City, and Inkwell magazines,
respectively. His play, 'The Johnsons & The Thompsons' was published (Playscripts) in October, 2008.
