Author Wendy Orr has said that she penned a first draft of her delightful 1999 kid’s adventure story, Nim’s Island when she was just nine years old, about the same age as Nim, her Robinson Crusoe-like heroine. With Nim’s Island arriving on the big screen later this month, the story grows even more magical. The movie, starring Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) as the intrepid Nim, Jodie Foster as the agoraphobic adventure novelist Alex Rover, and 300 star Gerard Butler in a dual role, opens in theaters Friday, April 4.
