Boyz II Men They were discovered by Michael Bivins of New Edition, nurtured by Motown in the early 1990s, and became the biggest-selling group in the company’s history. Boyz II Men—Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Michael McCary—smartly combined contemporary beats with classic smooth harmony, reeling off the huge hits “Motownphilly,” “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday” (the only acappella No. 1 hit in pop music history) and “End Of The Road” (from the feature film Boomerang) in the first year alone. “End Of The Road” is one of three group No. 1 hits—“I’ll Make Love To You” and “One Sweet Day,” with Mariah Carey are the other two—that set and broke records for longevity at No. 1; they also tied the Beatles’ record for replacing themselves at the top of the charts. Among their other hits: “Water Runs Dry,” “On Bended Knee,” “4 Seasons of Loneliness,” “A Song For Mama,” “Can’t Let Her Go,” and more.
