Still Life is a somber story of people returning to the town of Fengjie before it is flooded by the construction of China's Three Gorges Dam; a miner searches for his former wife and a nurse for her husband. Melancholy and loss are palpable in the unmet gazes of the displaced characters and the blue haze of the cinematography as people decide what—and who—to lose forever.
